Re-configured House

Location: Great Bookham, Surrey

Client: Private

Project Type: Layout Re-configuration

This project had two phases: ground floor layout reconfiguration and then a loft conversion at a future date. The designs were prepared purposefully to avoid any repeat works over the two phases.

The client wanted to make better use of the existing narrow side extension and make a more dramatic entrance. We proposed replacing the roof to the extension, and then vaulting the ceilings to create more sense of light. This paired with new rooflights and portal framed glazing overlooking the garden has helped elevate the space. Through flipping the stair to land on the opposite end, the entrance felt more open and provides daylight that continues down the hall.
